In honor of tonight’s GOP Caucus, (or perhaps in spite of it) I want to give some eco shoutouts to sustainable fashion folks in the Hawkeye State.
Designer Ananda Duszynski makes upcycled (recycled and upgraded) clutches, totes and clothing. She uses vintage and repurposed materials in her fabulous creations. No stranger to Sustainable Fashion, Ananda worked for both Ducette Duvall and Feral Childe. She used to be in NY, but is now located in…..Fairfield, Iowa!
Check out her website for clutches & totes, and Etsy store for dresses & more!
Another designer to recently make the move from NY -> IA is Jenny Gordy, creator of Wiksten. Jenny designs and makes all of her pieces by hand with natural fibers like cotton, linen and silk. She’s now in Iowa City.
Last but not least, Ecouturiere is a small company by Christine Vivian that makes vintage-inspired eco-friendly clothing in Goose Lake, IA. You can buy her stuff on Etsy.
Additional shoutouts:
- Iowa State fashion students focused on sustainability in their annual fashion show last April.
